Born in South Wales, Seán trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Seán has worked as a voiceover artist for over 15 years now, narrating TV documentaries for BBC2, BBC4 and Channel 4 as well as voicing many commercials for TV and radio, audio dramas, animation and corporate films with a wide range of clients from small independents to companies such as Aardman Animation and Universal Productions.
He is perhaps best known to Doctor Who fans as the voice of Narvin in the Doctor Who audio dramas produced by Big Finish Productions. Seán has appeared in over 30 audio dramas in the Doctor Who range, including Series 1-7 of Gallifrey, the award winning Doctor Who-Dark Eyes, the mini series I, Davros, Iris Wildthyme, Bernice Summerfield, Sherlock Holmes, The Confessions of Dorian Gray as well as adventures with the 4th 5th and 8th Doctors. Documentaries for television include the Legends series for BBC4, The Motown Invasion and Neil Sedaka – That’s When the Music Takes Me (also for BBC4) and The Underground War (Channel 4).
Theatre includes 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (The Watermill Theatre, Newbury), Blue Remembered Hills (The Everyman, Cheltenham/Laughing Orange Productions), 2002/2004 seasons at the Ludlow Festival, appearing in Michael Bogdanov’s highly acclaimed The Merry Wives of Windsor, Cymbeline and Twelfth Night & Bill Alexander’s An Enemy of the People (Clwyd Theatr Cymru). National tours include the critically acclaimed Dust (Quidem Productions), Orla O’Loughlin’s Tales of the Country (Pentabus Theatre 2010/11 tours), Sons and Lovers, The Picture of Dorian Gray (both Snap Productions), Rock n’ Roll & Barbirolli (Snap/Palace Theatre, Westcliff), Brief Encounter (Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company), Roger Williams’ one-man play Saturday Night Forever (Edinburgh Festival), The Masque of the Red Death (The Fetch Theatre Company) and A Ghost in the Attic (Spectacle Theatre).
Seán has also performed with National Theatre Wales, Bristol Old Vic, Barbican Theatre, Plymouth, Theatr Powys, Theatre West Glamorgan, Wales Actors’ Company and Gwent Theatre.
Television work includes Stella (Sky1), Skins (E4), Doctor Who – The Christmas Invasion, Torchwood (BBC 1), Manhunt (ITV1), the BBC comedy series Tastebuddies, Crimewatch, Casualty, Back Up, Mud (BBC 1), Crimesolver, The Bench, Tiger Bay, (BBC Wales), Sleeping Dogs (BBC Choice), Y Palmant Aur and Halen Yn Y Gwaed (S4C) and the Channel 5/Granada film The Great Dome Robbery. Films include Darklands, Bad Company and Shine.
More recently Sean wrote and produced ‘Do Not Go Mental…The Story of Brendan Pendry (The Other Welsh Poet)’ in which he played Brendan Pendry. ‘Do Not Go Mental’ is a short film produced by Fin Media to mark the Dylan Thomas cenenary.
It received great acclaim when it was screened earlier this year at The Dylan Thomas Weekend, Laugharne, The Dylan in Fitzrovia Festival, London and The Do Not Go Gentle Festival, Swansea. It will be available online soon.
